Welcome to my tour of my 2017 Summer Living Room. Am I too late to share a summer living room? Maybe I am… but perhaps something you see here will serve as inspiration for future summer decorating.
It’s only been the past few years that I have really started to focus on seasonal decorating. And frankly, the priorities have been Fall and Christmas. For quite a few years, summer decorating was just not high on my radar, but this year I gave it a bit more effort and attention. And I am actually quite pleased with the results. So much so, in fact, that I am little reluctant to take it all down and start on Fall.
I won’t be very wordy on this tour; a few comments here and there. Most of what you see here are items that I re-use over the course of the year. Many of these pieces are collected from thrift shops and garage sales, as well as purchases slowly accumulated over time from Home Goods, Pottery Barn, Michael’s and JoAnn’s.
On the mantel, I was delighted to find this very simple new lantern at Pier 1, especially since it was on sale!
The two bird prints over the couch are new from Country Door; I wanted something summery, bright and colorful, and so they are! (I also tracked down a 10% off coupon to ease the pain!)
As you can see, I have totally indulged in my very fond regard for buffalo check. The bright green buffalo check pillows are actually made from dish towels I found at JoAnn’s; the turquoise buffalo check fabric is a Pioneer Woman tablecloth I found at Walmart!
The dining room table is my favorite part. It’s simple and bright, and makes me smile every time I look at it!
Since I tend to get very dramatic when I decorate for Fall and Christmas, my goal was to keep things simple and casual. (Not saying I actually achieved it, but it was a goal!)
My hope is that you find something here that gives you inspiration for your summer decorating…. maybe not this year (since I am so late!) but definitely for the future!

I think you achieved your goal! The room is very inviting, in a kick-off-your-flip-flops-and-relax kind of way. I really like how you are able to use some of the decorating items over and over… just in a different way for each season.
Thank you Janis! I wanted to keep things clean and simple, and create that kick-off-your-flip-flops feeling !! Our wall color can be a challenge sometimes, but I realized it plays well with cream and ivory, and a few brighter colors too.
